The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival was recapped during Episode 009 of The NY Hip Hop Report with Manny Faces, presented by Birthplace Magazine. New York hip hop history was made as Busta Rhymes, who headlined the event, reunited with Leaders of the New School and brought out A Tribe Called Quest for a rousing rendition of their collaborative classic “Scenario.” BirthplaceMag.com founder and editor-in-chief Manny Faces and Senior Staff Writer Steven Ortiz spoke about the momentous finale, as well as the main day festivities, reviewing the overall event, particularly in relation to last year’s show.
In addition, the two spoke about various upcoming New York hip hop happenings, culled from the Birthplace Magazine events calendar, as well as touching on Nas’ upcoming Life Is Good release, “Christian rap” artist DAY, and that sub-genre of rap music, and reminded listeners that what many have been calling a “New York hip hop resurgence” was predicted when starting BirthplaceMag.com, years ago.
The NY Hip Hop Report with Manny Faces airs Sunday nights from 10p-11p on the BlogTalkRadio network. Archives are available here, as well as through a free subscription on iTunes.
