New York Hip Hop Talk Radio – Presented by Birthplace Magazine (www.BirthplaceMag.com)
On July 30, listener-funded, commercial free WBAI Radio in New York City hosted the annual edition of Ife Dancy Presents The Hip Hop TakeOver, a 24-hour long block of hip hop related programming, curated by radio personality Ife Dancy. The yearly Hip Hop TakeOver invites many different hip hop-related personalities to host hour or longer segments during the marathon.
This year, The NY Hip Hop Report was invited to host a two-hour slot on Saturday morning, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., bringing our unique hip hop talk radio format from our weekly online radio show, to the New York City airwaves. The resulting broadcast can be heard below, nearly in its entirety (a small amount was cut by the automated archiving system from the beginning and ending, nothing of significance).
The broadcast was extremely well received,” reported Manny Faces, the creator of The NY Hip Hop Report and parent organization Birthplace Magazine. ”It validated our idea that people would respond well to the concept of hip hop talk radio, much like people enjoy sports talk radio.” The program displayed engaging conversation between Manny Faces and Steven Ortiz, Senior Staff Writer for Birthplace Magazine and frequent co-host on the weekly version of The NY Hip Hop Report, heard on the BlogTalkRadio network on Sunday nights from 10 p.m. until 11 p.m.
The full recording of the show can be heard below. For more infomation on future editions of Ife Dancy Presents The Hip Hop TakeOver, follow @HHTakeOver on twitter or The Hip Hop TakeOver on Facebook.
